Drug Conspiracy & Drug Trafficking

In simple terms, being charged with drug conspiracy means the government is accusing you of conspiring (or agreeing to break the law) to manufacture, sell, distribute, smuggle or import drugs. Drug conspiracy cases can be rather complex given the amount of co-conspirators and drugs involved. On the other hand, the drug conspiracy can be as simple as one buy-and-sell transaction involving only a handful of co-conspirators.

As a criminal defense attorney, it is important that I investigate the role that each person played in the drug conspiracy. It is also important to investigate whether the government casted its net too wide in deciding who to charge in the drug conspiracy. Clearly, association with conspiracy members alone is not sufficient.

Additionally, it is important that I fully understand the amount of drugs (narcotics, crystal meth, cocaine, cocaine base, marijuana, GHB, etc) associated with each person listed in the indictment.

Representing a client charged with drug conspiracy can be very fact-intensive. To properly represent my client, I may need to hire an experienced fact investigator to interview witnesses.
